Mole Hill Community Barbeque

Mole Hill will be hosting a community barbeque on Saturday, September 18, 2010 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the community square in the lane way. All tenants, members, neighbours nad community partners are invited to attend. Please let us know if you will be attending, so we can order the right amount of food – call 604-687-1145 or email to admin@mole-hill.ca. If you would like to bring a dish to contribute to the event, it would be greatly appreciated.

The current and departing board members, as well as nominees running for the 4 vacant positions on the board will be there to answer your questions in preparation for the upcoming AGM on September 23, 2010.

Annual General Meeting

The Mole Hill Community Housing Society, Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 5:30 pm. An information package will be sent to current members by the middle of August. Summer at Mole Hill

Finally, the weather has improved enough to begin gardening at Mole Hill and summer is fast upon us. The lane way is lush with thimble berries and beautiful wild flowers, which many tenants and west end residents have been enjoying. Just a few reminders about gardening. In accordance with other environmental practices at Mole Hill, we ask that you keep the watering to a minimum and that it take place in the early or later hours of the day. This ensures that the water is absorbed into the soil and not the atmosphere, due to evaporation by the hot sun. The lawns are not watered during the summer months, as despite turning brown during the hotter months they always return to a lush green in the fall.

Mole Hill maintains the lane way and green way, so please give the office a call at 604-687-1145 if you have concerns about the plants. These are delicate eco-urban areas and require an experienced hand to maintain. If you are interested in having a garden plot, please call our office or contact the West End Resident’s Association at www.wera.bc.ca. Mole Hill will be conducting some structural work and painting on the outside of some of the houses over the summer months and the window washing will take place in July.

We would like to welcome Joshua Falcioni as our new Caretaker at Mole Hill. Joshua started on June 15, 2010 and has already familiarized himself with the many intricacies of the 28 houses on the block.

Watch for a new members area on this site, where you can log on to view board meeting minutes and other information. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Mole Hill Community Housing Society, drop into our office at 1169 Pendrell Street (rear) and pick up an application or complete the attached form and email or drop off at our office MHCHS Application Form.

Special General Meeting for members of Mole Hill

The Mole Hill Community Housing Society has called a Special General Meeting for Thursday May 13, 2010 in the Mole Hill Community Room. This is for anyone who is a member of the Mole Hill Society. The purpose of the meeting is to deal with resolutions that were submitted for the Annual General Meeting in November 2009. We hope to see you there!

New Property Management Model at Mole Hill

Mole Hill has moved to a direct employee model after 10 years of service from COHO Management Services Society and (CRS) Community Repair Services. We are very pleased to welcome Brian Ferguson, our Assistant Property Manager, Keath Asher, our Live-in Caretaker and Baogang Cai (Bobbie) and Jikai Tang (Catherine) our new cleaning staff.

We would like to thank the employees from COHO and CRS for their many years of dedicated service.

Mole Hill has vacancies for people who quality for low-end of market units

Mole Hill has one bedroom and bachelor, low-end market units available for rent. In order to be eligible to rent a market unit at Mole Hill, you must fall within an income category. Please check “How to Become a Tenant” for more information about this requirement. Though we generally rent one bedroom units to couples, some of our smaller one bedroom units are currently available for single people.

Please join us for coffee on Wednesday January 20, 2010 at 1:00 pm in the Mole Hill Community Room, to meet our newly hired employees: Keath Asher – Live-in Caretaker and Baogang Cai (Bobbie) and Jilai Tang (Catherine), our new cleaning staff. They are looking forward to meeting many of you and discussing any concerns you may have.

On Thursday February 4, 2010 at 7:00 pm in the Community Room, we invite you to come and meet the new Board of Directors. They will be discussing plans for the new year and answering any questions you may have.
